Armed Security
Guard Training Requirements in New
Hampshire
All states in
the US have different laws regarding licensing for an
unarmed security officer. Each state has different
agencies or companies that handle permits and
certifications for each license. In the state of New
Hampshire, the Permits and Licensing Unit is the one
responsible for approving licenses to all security guards
and agencies all throughout the
state.
As mandated by
the New Hampshire state, all applicants for an armed
security officer must have the
following:
- Applicants
should be at least 21 years old
- Applicant
must be a resident of the United States and must have
a proof of residency.
- Must have
three persons unrelated to him/her as a character
reference for future inquiries that the agency might
ask.
- Applicants
must complete all forms which have been submitted as
per Administrative Procedures Act. The applicant must
submit all forms to the Permits and Licensing Unit in
person.
- Applicants
must answer all the required questions completely in
applying for Security Guard Employee. Once the
answers are incomplete, the agency will postpone the
processing of your submitted
forms.
- Applicants
must submit to a complete criminal background
check.
- Must be
able to submit 2 photos taken at the state police
office.
- Applicants
must have a New Hampshire state driver’s license and
must be valid.
- Applicants
must have no felony convictions or misdemeanors
associated with drugs, violence, fraud or
theft.
- Must be in
good physical condition.
- Fingerprints must also be
submitted. For armed security guards, you are
required to have two sets of fingerprints in applying
for your license.
- A yearly
weapons qualification is required for armed security
officers.
- Applicants
must be pay all the fees required before they submit
their application form.
- Minimum
requirements of 4 hours firearms training techniques
and safety is required yearly for the renewal of your
firearm license.
No security guard
training examination is required for the armed
security guards to take. For the first time applicants,
they must have a scheduled appointment for fingerprints
prior to arrival. Training class may vary depending on
the company that hired you. All security providers must
be in accordance to the New Hampshire state
law.
Armed security
officers can work almost everywhere. From public
businesses to being a private security guard, the
opportunity is there. Of course they must have the right
skills and ability to do the work. They must be alert and
posses a great instinct to deal with emergencies. They
must also have a good memory in case they are called to
testify as a witness. Training is also important
especially with using firearms. They are needed in order
for an armed security officer to be competent in this
line of work.
