Armed Security
Guard Training Requirements in
Oklahoma
The state of Oklahoma
is the 20th most populous states in the United
States. As the state whose center of economy relies greatly on
aviation, energy, telecommunications and biotechnology, this
vast state is open for any individuals who are interested to
work as a security officer. In Oklahoma, you are required to be
licensed as an armed security guard. This license is given by
CLEET or Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training and
should be renewed every two years. In the state of Oklahoma, an
armed security officer must undergo a psychological evaluation
and meet the criteria needed before your license is
given.
The following are the qualifications
required for an armed security officer in
Oklahoma:
- Applicants must
be at least 21 years
old.
- Must be a
resident of the United States and must have a proof
of residency.
- Must be of good
moral
character.
- Must have a
driver’s license in the state of
Ohio.
- Applicants must
be in good physical
condition.
- Must be free
from any psychological disorder and must be able to
pass psychological
evaluation.
- Applicants must
be free from alcohol dependency or drug abuse.
- Must have no
felony
convictions.
- Must have no
physical disability that can prevent him/her from his
security guard
duties.
- Applicants must
submit 2 pieces colored passport size
photos.
- Must pass a
police or Sheriff record
check.
- Must have an
insurance letter from employer or security
bond.
- Must submit 2
CLEET fingerprint
cards.
- Must be able to
complete training
requirements.
- Applicants must
complete and answer completely all the questions
pertaining to armed security guard on application.
Any incomplete information from the applicant’s form
will be
rejected.
Firearms training must be completed in
8 hours and applicants must be trained under an approved
source during the licensing period in order to keep their
license. They must complete the CLEET approved courses
and pass the State exam within 180 days from the date of
application. For those applicants with previous security guard
training such as correctional officers, peace
officers, retired police officers and others may be
exempted from any training requirements provided that
they can give proof of their training. Keep in mind that
firearms training are required for every applicant.
However, this cannot be given until you have passed the
psychological
evaluation.
Armed security
guards are open to work as bodyguards as a close
protection officer to escort any client. They can also
conduct pre-search facilities and background-checks of
people who are likely to have contact with the client.
They can also stand guard to protect the safety of the
public as well as preventing assaults and other
crimes.
